If I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, I sometimes go into my art room. It’s pretty much off limits to anyone else as, like many creative spaces, its full of stuff and messy; junk on the floor, things I’m collectiong for projects I may or may not ever do, unfinished or abandoned projects and all sort of objects that appeal to me.
Invariably, no matter what the reason for entering my space, I take out the camera, fascinated by the prospect of creating composition from chaos. Its a bit mad, and even more crazy to presume that anyone would be remotely interested in this. So absorbing is the process that I forget all about what’s been keeping me awake.
