Over a period of five days in January 2013, I stockpiled rubbish collected from our beach. Picking up rubbish had became a habit on my daily beach walk with Jimmy the poodle. There was so much rubbish washed ashore that summer. My five day collection became large enough to sort into categories. I had bottle tops, plastic straws, multi-coloured plastic pieces, twine and polystyrene. Next, I photographed the sorted rubbish.
Then I decided to collage the photos on painted thick cardboard cylinders. Collected rubbish transformed and became The Rubbish Collection a mischievous, tongue-in-cheek title for humble waste paper bins that are still in use.

A barrage of rain, wind and wild seas decimated the dunes at Marcus Beach during the summer of 2013. Gentle fore dunes became massive sand cliffs all along the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia.
