Stone is a solid presence yet leaves unanswered so many questions that you would like to ask your long lost ancestors of the Neolithic and Iron Age.
Standing in the space after crawling through a short tunnel, I had a sense of the fine craftsmanship. Were there specialised stone masons?
These structures exist in their particular built form because nature provided a soft limestone that could be chiselled using stone tools into thin slate-like building blocks to create corbelled walls and provide large enough slabs for a roof.
