The inspiration for this series of six paintings were the extraordinary colours created by early morning sunlight on the clear, tannin-stained shallow water of Marcus Creek as it flows across the rippled sand to the ocean. These 60 X 60 cm works involved multiple layering acrylic paint glazes to achieve the effect of the sunlight on water,

These works, celebrating the the natural world, herald a move towards abstract painting at the same time exploring different painting techniques such as glazing, using a restricted colour pallete and dot brushwork.
