Figurative and abstract as concepts blur at times. This collage is purely abstract. However I called it Emus and Kangaroos Kissing. I saw two emu heads (top left) and two kangaroo heads (top right) in the image. They are Australia’s National emblems. I love it when something like that happens: an unofficial Australian Coat of Arms no less!
Making meaning is a very human thing to do. Whenever I’ve shown this work, people invariably see objects, not abstraction.
