Artful playing
Sometimes I do “artful playing” as a way of honing my skills when taking a break from work the requires more concentration. This was an exercise in composition and shape.
I used a small cardboard frame to isolate an area in a magazine photo. Next I attached the photocopied cutouts to the pages in my art journal using paper clips. I actually liked the look of the clips, so I decided to photograph the pages – remember this is play.
Then I just couldn’t resist playing around a bit more with photographic effects. Affinity Photo is a great tool for doing this.
So what was the original photo that gifted me this play material? An interior of a lounge room that had a cathedral ceiling and a round port hole feature window on one wall. The other round shape is a ceiling lamp. Look for the floor lamp with a spherical shade. It’s all about circles.
