My grandfather was a Tulloch from Forres which is 38.2 miles from Dingwell. Col’s mother was a Dingwall from Culbokie on the Black Isle. Her family lived just 6.1 miles from her namesake across the Cromarty Firth.
Ali had driven us past Tulloch Castle last time we visited so this time we walked through the heart of Dingwall searching for a postcard for Vanessa, Col’s sister.

Imagine my surprise and delight when we arrived at Tulloch Castle that evening, at our undisclosed dinner destination! If the truth be known it was only a surprise for me – always the last to know. We chose the special Father’s Day meal, drinking a toast to the Tullochs and Ali on Fathers Day. What a fitting end to the day
Tulloch Castle is essentially a 20th Century construction on a potentially older castle site. There’s some interesting history that does connect the name of Tulloch to the land. Sadly not remotely connected to our line. Dad always said his fathers line came from The Orkneys. You’ll just have to wait for the details, as I can’t blog as quickly as we travel
