    judetullochartist NEW SITE COMING

    judetullochartist NEW SITE COMING

Right now I’m working on a total redesign of my site. I’m aiming to make it easier to navigate around the three broad areas I blog about: ART, TRAVEL, and NATURE. The work is “backend” out of sight to the viewer, so for the moment, my site will be a simple blog roll with perhaps a little less activity than usual. Stay tuned though for a new, more visually exciting website.

    A Processionary Caterpillar Breaks Away

    A Processionary Caterpillar Breaks Away

“As the caterpillars grow, a brown stocking-like nest of silk is formed at the base of the tree at the spot where the eggs were first laid.” Queensland Museum That’s what I first saw when weeding around this tree. I thought it was animal fur but my instinct told me no, as there was no […]

    Garage studio transforms to kitchen

    Garage studio transforms to kitchen

Right now I’ve converted my garage studio into a makeshift kitchen. Our Kitchen/Family room is now an echoing room devoid of any furniture or fixtures. There’s no room to paint in the garage with tradies coming and going, cabinetry, tools and tiles stored. Fortunately, February was a productive month

Lunana: There’s a Yak in the Classroom The story Ugyen Dorji is a young urban schoolteacher, aspiring to become a singer, desperate to leave Bhutan for bigger and better things in Australia. Instead, he is posted to the most remote school in Bhutan, the very antithesis of his dreams. After an arduous eight-day trek, he […]

    Yak on Track: Bhutan Memories

Confined to couch with a nasty bout of Laryngitis, I recently read Yak on Track by Heather Mc Niece, who, with a very fit friend, did Bhutan’s Snowman trek, one of the hardest treks in the Himalayas, with fourteen high altitude passes, spectacular scenery and ever changing weather conditions. The book was an easy read that bought […]

Photo Friday – hiking in Morocco

Because I am not a professional photographer, the photos I take are not always the best shots technically. I snapped these hiking boots at a trekking lodge in the Azzaden Valley in the Atlas Mountains, without stopping to focus or compose the shot. Our the guide was ready to set off for the day so […]

    Road Train through Mt Surprise

Mount Surprise is a tiny settlement (169 residents according to the 2016 Census but probably fewer in 2020 when I visited) located on the Gulf Development Road. There is a pub, (built circa 1910 and for sale when I passed through), a couple of cafes, a caravan park, a service station, school and a gem […]
